Got to thinkin' about my 2N orig. gauge, not working, and decided to check it out.
No....I did not completely, tear it apart, so I do not know what is inside. But, It did not ever read beyond approx. 12-15 lbs. of pressure, prior to this cleaning. SO.. I fig., what the heck!!!
I first took a syrenge and filled the oriface with PB BLASTER,(did I say I love that stuff???) I let it cook in there for about an hour. Then turned it over and let it drain for awhile. Then took my rubber tipped air hose, and blew it out, w/ 10 lbs of air setting. I noticed that the gauge flutered, and when I pushed the air tip tightly on the oriface, walla!!! the gauge read exactly 10 lbs.
I then filled the oriface with light machine oil and worked it at,..10...20...30...40...and 60 lbs air pressure. The gauge never missed a mark. I went out early this morn., and install it on the "N", and started the engine. After about 30-40 sec., the gauge jumped up to 40 lbs. and stayed right there until the oil got warm. After approx. 25 min. the gauge had settled to approx 18 lbs., and stayed there for another 20-30 mins.
Was still working at shutdown !!!!! I'd say it is working good!!!!
Pix, are of after cleanup!!! :D

Try it, maybe you will get lucky, and save an old piece of an "N"
ENJOY!!!
