I'll be more than happy to Amen that, Ross.

Everything that I own is paid for, property, home, vehicles, no outstanding loans at all.

But between taxes, insurance, fuel, food (for quite a few more than just me, and the Ole Lady) electricity, LP gas, wood for heat, etc, etc, just that stuff adds up quick these days.
Then on top of that, having to help all of these grown kids and "step" (the Ole Lady's kids, we aren't married) kids make it, etc...

$73.00 to fill my vehicle this afternoon, for my 70 mile round trip commute to work.

3 or 4 years ago, I was doing fairly well.

Now I see poverty is climbing my ladder right behind me.

I had to drive down there thru west,v to get to virginnie and after seeing all the houses and great barns falling in . THought those pics looked nice! But then Ive seen that in iowa,mi,and everywhere i've been. At least they tried to do something with it instead of letting it all rot.But it is hilarious. I too had a distant relative who when they died and sold the house ,all 4 kids each got $200.oo.We had a devestating tornado about 10-20 years back. Devestated the area, damge about $38.oo. lol

Dunk,

Years ago I had the opportunity to purchase a Boeing 707. Scraped out. Asking price was less than $5,000.00.

I had an acre of mountainland here in PA. I gave a lotta thought of putt'N the fuselage up on cement pylons and starting a B&B.

The local powers would not issue a permit for "such an idea".

Lately, I saw a picture of a DC-8 all set up in Lousiana. B&B rates were $350.00 per nite.

No beacons.
The FCC allowed them to add cell antennas to it and thus allowed the hunters to pay their lease cheaply. A win win situation. Except for the deer's sake.
Good to see you Ron. Hope you and your's are well.

Can't for the life of me, see what this has to do with an 8n or a 9n Ford tractor, which I do have one of each, and I live in West Virginia, not too far from Blacksburg, so I know very well what a Hokie is. Not all West Virginians live in tar paper shacks and are bare footed. I may be a hillbilly, that lives in a $350.000 house, but at least I'm not a turkey.

And I own 2 Ford N tractors also but a little off topic once in a while does no harm. No harm was intended by anyone, I am sure, just get over your touchiness, and smile like the rest of us do.

Don't take offense Welding man. I don't think The Old Hokie is putting down any West Virginans.
There is a lot of OT (Off Topic) stuff that gets posted on these boards. Folks here kind of like to shoot the breeze sometimes like a bunch of locals at the feed store. Some of it isn't related to tractors at all. This is still the best place in the whole world to discuss the using, fixing and restoring of these great tractors. And that's mostly what we do talk about.
Pretty great bunch of folks really. Have fun.

One think for sure, I will bet. When they lay down to sleep at night in that yeller bus they ain't worried about it being repossed next week or about forclosure on their loan because they missed a few $800.+ mortgage payments or the outrageous tax bill that comes yearly. They are probably happier than most people on this forum. Poor but happy and very thankful for what they do have, no doubt.

We are thinking about opening a B&B in Sunset Louisiana this year. We built a new house and have 8 acres with our retirement home off to the side. Very Private, property is gated for security. Two bedrooms, kitchen, bath, screen porch, DishNetwork and internet connecton, washer/dryer.
We retired there and lived there until we we built a larger home last year, but it took 7 years to get new house.
