Operation 8N: Left Axle Out

In order to get better access to the left brake rod, I needed to pull the axle and brake assembly out of the trumpet. Should be as simple as removing six bolts and sliding the axle out, but I had one bolt that didn't want to budge.

It took about 2.5 hours of alternating heat, PB blaster and a 3lb. sledge on the cold chisel to finally get it to break loose.

I still like painting better (note the red oxide-coated transmission section).

Thanks for asking, Gary. Hand is doing pretty good, but by the end of the day, it can get to throbbing a bit, especially if it's been 'down' a lot. I have almost all my range of movement back, and probably 85-90% of my grip strength back. Still looks a mess, and will probably carry a nice scar the rest of my life.

Reminders are somtimes a very good thing!!!!! The pain of mistakes are too often forgotton, but the scars always remind ya of the past. :roll:
Glad it is doing better, NOW.... get out there and finish the job!!!!! :lol:

Looks like you are hard at it.!!! How is the HAND holding up under all that wrenchin',and strainin'???

Bet the musles are still healing.!!!!
