I tried to start the 8n yesterday and battery was low on charge. It cranked over but very sluggish. I let of the starter button but the starter continued to turn over. I turned the key to the off position and it still continued to crank. Finally, I pulled the battery cable. What would cause this? It has been converted to 12 volt. I did notice that the alternator plug type resistor was a little loose in the connector, could this be the cause?

Thanks.

I agree with OLD. also.. if you are still using the oem 3 terminal start solenoid, you need to realize that the ignition key has absolutely -0- to do with the starter.. the starter can spin with the key on or off!

Soliniod is sticking on you. Tap it with a screw driver handle and try it again. Common problem caused by a weak battery
