A week ago last Saturday I went out and looked at the creek bottom and said, "I gotta mow that." Went to start the NAA and it wouldn't start. Hmmmm. Check electrics. Check carb. They're fine. Happen to look at the gas shutoff bowl and discover it's half filled with crud. Okay. Clean out the bowl. It's half full of rust. Hmmm. Check the gas line. It's running a good stream. Try starting the tractor again. It atarts! It won't run over 1000 rpm. Start checking things. Get to the air cleaner and discover that paper wasps have started building a nest in the top of the barrell. Great. Spend 45 minutes killing the wasps, taking the air cleaner apart, and cleaning it. Tractor won't start because I used gas to clean the filter mesh. Get the wife. Get the Farmall. Pull the NAA to start it. It starts after pulling it about 5 feet. Wife takes off to mow the hillside.

Last Saturday I say, "I'm gonna mow the creek bottom." NAA started right up. Ran for about 45 seconds and died. Not again. Check the fuel. Check the electrics. Etc. All fine. Open the door on the hood to check the air filter. Look down the inlet. And there's a mouse looking back at me. It's building a nest in the top of the air filter. Aargh!

I'm almost afraid to try mowing the creek bottom again. I mean, what's next? A mink? Snakes?

My 8N wouldn't start. I had replaced everything 2-3 days before and it was running fine. Then I had taken the coil wire out of the coil while I was doing something to the ignition system. Came back, put the coil wire back in...no fire. Checked battery, keyswitch, wiring, voltage regulator, generator, starter, anything with a wire hooked to it(other than baling wire). Could not get fire. Finally, I looked in the coil terminal, where a dirt-dauber had started building a nest, packing the terminal with clay.

I've been using my brother in -law's Farmall A to plow with and NAA to do the disking and grading in my yard. We pulled three nestes from the draw bar mount on the A. Then last week I look at it, and the newest nest has three eggs. The eggs have now turned into three baby Robins. Being that the owner of the tractors wife is pregnant, I've been "instructed" to leave the tractor alone until nesting season is over. Well, that is not gonna fly with planting, so I move the nest every day to a pine, the mother waits, at the end of the day I put the nest back, and she's fine with it.
