Timing gear side cover stripped thread...

Replaced my front cover last week and now have a oil leak at the bottom where the front and side cover meet. Removed the side cover and the bolt that goes from the oil pan up to the bottom of the side cover had stripped the threads. Now is there any thing that can be done here without buying a new side cover. How will the aluminum except a new thread?

Thanks - Rick

Is it one of the bolts that goes through both covers? If so get a smaller diameter longer bolt and put a washer and nut on it.

Thanks for all of the replys!! I'll look into these inserts, relieved there is something that can be done. I remember when I took the oil pan off there was one bolt missing from the pan, this must have been the one.

Helicoil it,,, put a drop of thread locker on the Helicoil fer you run it up,,, did quite a few,, never a problem

Seam's all the lum'num covers suffer from this problem,,, I seam to only see the bad threads after I try and bolt'em up,,, I have made a note to self,,, Helicoil'em all B done wif it

Its rite EZ to do,,, keep the drill straight,,,lum'num drills and taps like butter

rookie..... ...2-fixxes..... Heli-coil's and Klein-zerts. I don't like heli-coils 'cuz you need special taps and they come un-screwed. I like Klein-zerts (do a google search) they use standard taps and are "staked" inplace and can NOT unscrew..... ...Dell

Rick8Nrookie, people on here talk tracter fixin', not purrfect English much of the time, but they are quiet good at fixin' dem 4-bangers named N's. And I know mine ain't right either, but take it fer what it is worth, just overlook some of us, OK. Specially, Hobo, he's my buddy. And Dunk, Dell, SouNdguy, Bruce (both of 'em), Dan, Larry, LeeMo, BeeMo, Gary, and any others I failed to mention. We all had our learnin' in school and may not be purfect but we understand each other wif out being corrrected like in English class. If'n you are a teacher, go back to yer students.
