My 8N starts fine, but after that 20 minute window it starts to die. I can keep it running if I choke it slightly. Does this suggest bad condensor or clogged fuel line?

Hello, Jus real fast before they kick us outta this here McDonalds. We come up here ta wash up and such fore bedtime. Ennyways Pappy used ta say check that coil down there ta see if it's kinda hot. Twenty minutes er so sounds jus bout nuf time fer that darn coil ta overheat. Them ford trackters is bad fer that. Them coils break down over time an cut out like that. Iffin it aint that there coil try suckin on that line ta see if yah can git that trash out.

Greenhorn..... ....there are 4-common runtime issues
1) runs about 1-min and dies, restarts innna'bout 5-mins; BAD condenser
NOT yer stated complaint
2) runs about 5-mins and dies, restarts innna'bout 15-mins; CLOGGED fueltank filter NOT yer stated complaint
3) runs about 1-hr and dies, restarts after 4-hrs or overnite cooldown; BAD squarecan ignition coil
NOT yer stated complaint
4) runs about 15-mins and dies, restarts after about 1/2-hr cooldown
sound like yer stated complaint??? BAD ignition switch

Yer weaksister ignition switch internal gutts gitt corroded, heat-up and cause weak sparkies. Pullin' yer choke ENRICHES yer mixture which is eazier for weak sparkies to sparkle ..... ..HTH, Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

8ngreenhorn,

My first thought would be to see if you're getting fuel.

To do this, remove the plug in the bottom of your carb and let the fuel drain out into a clean can.

Does it dribble out?

Drain quickly, then start dripping?

Or give a good steady stream for at least 20 seconds?

Post back and let us know.
