8N vs 641

I just bought an old 8N with a non- mounted loader in rough shape and soon after I bought it I came across a 641 in comparable condition. I am leaning to the upgrade as the cost of both was really cheep and I won’t get hurt either way. With power steering and live hydraulics I thought the 641 would be a better use of my time bringing it up to a good working condition. I realize this is an 8n board but would like your opinions. For reference I paid $1350 for the 8N with loader and the 641 is starting at $1500 and I expect to get a little off that. Both run, no smoke and lots of little things wrong but I look forward to fixing that part soon as my pole barn gets finished. I have not decided if I will fix up the basics on the 8N before I sell if I go that route but either way I expect to make a little on whichever one I sell. I already anticipate not putting the loader on and expect some repairs on the steering because of the load the loader put on it prior to it being taken off.

I look forward to your opinions
Mike

Keeping both is not really an option as I already have two other tractors a Farmall Cub family owned since new that I won't ever get rid of and an Oliver 550 which has been so dependable I won't get rid of it until one of these is completely fixed up. By the way I only have 3 acres and I figure one tractor per acre is enough (at least for now)

i have an 8n, and a 640. the n i passed down to my wife and son to use, once i used the 640 i guess i was spoiled. wouldn"t want to go back to the n, even though it is a great tractor.

Get the 641.. as the others said.. it's essentially an updated NAA with better rear hubs and hyd pump..

has the same feeling 4 spd the 8n has.. and more ponies.. and is newer... better hyds than the 8n.

To me it would be a no brainier. The 8N at 23 HP or the 641 at 31HP and live hyds. The 641 is almost twice the tractor and over all built better then the old 8N is

As a point of reference. I have both models. The 641 is stronger and live hydraulics is definitely a plus. You will do a lot more work easier with the 641.

bought the 641 now it will be three weeks before I can play with it since I am traveling. Thanks for the inputs. It doesn't have the three point arms, any idea what model arms will work on it and best way to find some?
