8N engine loping at low and high idle

Replaced cracked mainfold and cleaned carburetor while replacing float in carb. See follow up post below.

Engine now lopes and sounds like a two cylinder at idle or high speed. Shorting out each cylinder affects the rpm and sound the same. Carb mixture adjustments seem to work as engine responds. Sprayed carb cleaner around intake ports of new manifold with out any change. Carb gasket not the best.

Have good hot 3/8" blue spark on all cylinders. Had not touched the ignition system (6V).

Ideas?

Lets make sure that I understand what you mean by "loping". Is the rpm going increasing and decreasing? If so, is the throttle rod from the governor moving to cause it?

What happened when you sprayed around the connect flange between the carb and the intake manifold? Do you have the correct firing order?

Did not disturb the wiring. Ran fine before manifold and carb work.

Don't believe the governor rod is moving.

I think something is loose in the carb, like the venturi or the gasket is bad. RPM doesn't seem to change but exhaust and engine noise sure does.

When you accelerate via the throttle is sounds better.
