We ran into a problem in the 9n project. It seems like the camshaft is clicking...

I get a click when cylinder 1 is at top and bottom (two per cycle). When I tried to locate the click, i felt the cam shaft and it is jumping out as it clicks.

Any Ideas on how to fix this problem? I have included a video, hopefully it works.

Thanks a ton

I too am with gaspump.

Only turn your engine one way.

Clockwise.

This statement gets worse in the later years, when you git into DOHC and toothed rubber belts.

Gaspump is rite on track,,, its not uncommon to get a pop/click from the cam moving in and out when assembling the engine

The first one I herd do that I could not believe what I was hearing...

Don't use turning the crank back and forth for a test as you are doing, the gears climb the angle and go back and will likely make the noise you are hearing. The engine turns the same direction, always, try turning the crank continuously clockwise from the front and see what happens. Also the cover and washer will dampen movement some.
