I need to clean out behind the governor and paint that spot. I have never taken the governor out but according to the manual, it looks simple. My questionis, how big a mess is it going to make from oil. I don't want a shop towel in hand and need a bucket!!!

Duckie..... ..remember SHORT bolt on TOP. otherwize you'll be learning how to replace yer camshaft drive gear $$$$

Most people just paint with the governor inplace. You can clean with small scrub brush and spraycan of brake cleaner to squirt the oily residue away..... .Dell

OD---the Gov. housing is not full of oil so you won"t need the bucket, but have a few paper towels on hand for the few drips that you may lose taking the gov off.

Just remember not to lay the gov. down on its flat side----then you may have some oil that drains out of the guts/housing while you are waiting for your paint to dry.

The towel and an optional small can should do it.
