RGM..... ...I "ring" my baby boy lambs the day they are born, but you can doo-itt upto 5-days after birth without problems. Generally you 'nutter' 'cuz you don't want problems and you SELL the nutters for delicious mild meat. UN-nuttered meat is STRONG STINKY meat, ugh!!! Besides nutters grow faster cheaper.

Ethnic sales sometimes demand all the plumbing for celebration of new BOY birth in family. Yer call, but I nutter'm.

I have alotta inexperienced lady friends that don't gitt BOTH the jewels in the ring. 1-left is same as 2-left; bad. The ring is PAINLESS on newborns. You do haffta have a 4-finger ring-stretcher. OR... you can do like the OLD sheepherders, BITE'em OFF ...or... cut'n'splash with iodine. Trust me, rings are better.

Also remember Strip, Clip, Dip. Dip the navel in 7-percent STRONG iodine. Strip the mothers teats. Why? 'cuz the milk glands are plugged with WAX and sometimes the kid or lamb don't have the "vacuum" to clear. You WANT MOTHERS MILK with all that good colostrum full of anti-bodies and high energy goodies to gitt'chur baby of to good start.

Usually, you start milking the doe after 5-days; and bottle feed the kid 'cuz the reason for goats is MILK and cheese..... ..Dell, the old sheepherder
