My '52 8N pops right off in the morning, but if I happen to stall it or shut off the ignition when it is at running temperature all the starter will do is click jumper cables do the trick OK or waiting 'til it cools down works too but this sure don't make me very happy!!! Any suggestions as where to start trouble-shooting will be greatly appreciated.

Jim, check your ground cable and make sure it is good and tight where it bolts to tractor. Next, check the connections at the selinoid they may be weak and getting hot, when trying to restart. next, you might want to see about getting the starter rebuilt. It could be dragging when warm. John

could be battery going bad. and first thing i would do is clean up all wire and cable connections with wire wheel or sandpaper. also its a good idea to back the starter out of the houseing hole and scrape all the paint off the front of it and also the mounting hole area. the starter case is part of the grounding of the system.
