I bought a Ford 9N tractor this morning and didn't notice until I got home that it has a 6 cylinder engine...Never seen this before, it's factory too. Can someone give me some additional information on the Ford 9N w/6 cylinder engine?? It also has a 3 point and PTO like a standard 9N. Thanks in advance!

Arnie..... ..sounds like you have the "braggin' rights" to one of the relatively rare 5000-8000 FUNK conversions for the almost 1,000,000 N-Tractors made. (fits both the 3-speed 9N/2N and the 4-speed 8N) Funk conversions were DEALER installed. Funk also made about 250 kits for the flathead V8. Now that is a bull-rush. The 6-cylinders were favored because of the LOW SPEED TORQUE needed for plowing. The 23hp 9N 4-cyl flathead was just not up to pulling more than 2-plows.

Funk Aircraft originally got into the lite airplane kit business using Model-A engines.

For more info, click on the LINK to John Smiths most excellent Funk info site.

You can still gitt V8 conversion kits, great eye candy..... ....Dell, the non-authority

Actually, reading on the internet...it seems that Ford made these for the military to pull planes with...so I've read.
