osduck5;
I noticed you did not get an answer yet, so....for what it is worth, here goes.....
If ya have 1/2 inch of play/tilt, frt. to back, that is way too much movment, in the main axle bore.
I suspect that the axle pin and, or the pin bushing is worn out, and needs replacing..... ..JMO.
This is not a real hard job, and may save ya some $$$'s in the long run!!!!
The bent radius rods,(if not too bent), can be left alone, but I would try to straighten them as much as you can, to insure proper alignment of the frt. axle.
The inspection of damage to the front axle pin and bushing, should not be left unchecked too long, as they will only get worse as time goes by.
When I did mine on my 2N, I found a lot of damage done by the worn axle pin and bushing, to the axle support bores, and had to have the support, built up by a rep. welder and line bored. All told, new pin, and bushing, and replacing all the front axle bolts, and having the damage corrected, ran me close to $200.00. Had the pin been fixed properly by the prev. owner, it would have been much less cost.
This is a pic. of how I dissmantled the front end, and shows that I removed the hood, radiator and rad. fan.
All total in time, from start to finish, it took about 3 hrs. of my time, and 2 1/2 hrs. of welder time. All this was due to, letting the repair go too long.
If you have more ????'s, or need more help with this, My email is always open on the modern veiw of this forum.
