Zane..... .

I was at a local auction sometime ago.
The "auction house" personnel cleaned out the "remains" of ASSETS of an elderly gentleman's quarters at one of the Homes-of-the-ELDERLY, here.

I have in my posession the official stuff that comes from an ARMY AIR CORP. officer that was involved with the DOOLITTLE RAIDERS, circa 1940's.

I hope to donate the collection to that US AIR FORCE MUSEUM that is located close to your WOOD's. ATLANTA.

Do YOU think this is a good idea?

Perhaps the MUSEUM there will trade me for one of those "patches" of the MILITARY AIRLIFT COMMAND (MAC) so that I can show off my coveralls. Next TRIP.

My donation to the USAF must be fully documented, just like NAS Pensacola donations.

Maybe YOU could see to it, PLEASE, SIR.

John, PA L1049G MATS Retired.

Let me know if you get stuck trying to find someone. I have a contact at the USAFM that might be able to help (or might not, you never know).

I remember touring the WRAFB back in the mid-'70s in Boy Scouts. They let us climb up in the cockpit of a B-52, and pointed out the B-52s sitting out near the runway on Hot Alert (or whatever they called it), ready to take off at a moment's notice...

Yea, a guy never knows.

It is someth'N, taint it. After all, the kids (most times long distances away) just may never know the VALUES of the "old man", might they?

In the past, I would have just put the STUFF (considered personal) in an envelope and sent to the eldest child of the family as the "REMAINS". However, most times they (the family) had nothing but bad experiences and all that I seem to do is STIR 'EM UP AGAIN. Therefore, I just don't bother the family members.

Personal records in cabinet drawers, family pictures, birth certificates, etc. GARBAGE CAN!!

Cool stuff, John. The US Air Force Museum is, of course, in Dayton, OH. Only AF museum I know of near ATL is at Warner Robins, near Macon.

Google should turn up contact info to get you started.

I know MACON pretty well. What I don't know is do they want the STUFF????? ?? Officer was stationed in SEBRING, FL. east of the MOUNTAINS.

Therefore, a SOUTHERN MUSEUM might be the best ROUTE in NOVEMBER.

Thanks again. I am going to contact base commander and simply ask the person. John

The rest of this summer it will cost me too much $$$$$ keeping the stuff under the proper storage conditions here in my residence.
