Stupid question for everyone.

I'm trying to remove the Lift Spring Rocker Pin to remove the Top Link Rocker from my 48 8N, but the pin is stuck. The rocker rotates on the pin, but the pin is stuck in the hole where it passes through the rear end.

I've tried a BFH and heat from a propane torch. Am I missing something? Just hit it harder? Heat it hotter?
Thanks,

TooTall

Too Tall,

If you are talking about the long pin that passes through all three ears I was able to get mine out ('49 8n) by using an oxy/acly torch and multiple soakings of PB Blaster as it cooled. As stated earlier it must be removed from the left side as the holes are different sizes. If yours has the roll pin in the center it can be removed the same way. I was just about to give up on mine when it finally moved using a BFH. Was rusted tight in the outside ears.

Be careful to only hit the pin and not the casting!

I just finished putting mine back together. I got it off by soaking several times with PB and then used an air hammer with a flat/blunt tip. As previously mentioned it will only come out the left side of the tractor. Good luck.

I'll join this party....

I never did get mine out either, I think it would take some serious turning red heat to do that, and I just haven't ever had a reason to got to get that serious with it.

I did try fairly hard one time though, before deciding "if it ain't broke...."

Thanks Mike!

Knowing I'm not the only one with this problem makes me feel better. It looks like it should pop right out...

Too Tall - I ran into the same problem on my Jubilee. Seems like the pin can only be removed from right to left, cause the two holes in the surrounding castings won't let it come out from left to right. Even removed the right side fender so I could get a better whack at it with a BFH. I went through many cycles of heat and PB and a BFH to no avail. Afraid if I hit it any harder I'd break off the casting. Finally gave up. Thought maybe some day I'd try drilling it out, but that day hasn't come yet. I know this doesn't help you any, but at least you will know I suffer your pain..... ..... . Good luck.
