Had problems starting my 8n.No gas to the plugs.
Cleaned carb and it started. The next day it would"nt start.Cleaned carb again and it started. It will never resart the 2nd time unless I take carb apart and clean.I"ve done this 8 times now and have to believe carb is very clean.
What else could be the problem?

When ever you shut it off turn the gas off and let it die that way, just be sure you also turn off the ignition switch when you do that or you will have other problems

Instead of taking the thing apart, disconnect the fuel line and plug off, then restart and run at fast RPM still it stops running, then hook up the fuel again and restart there by flushing the dirt between the needle and seat. That almost always works. When you do this the float drops down and allows this.CENTAUR

I suspect that the float is sticking.

Does it have the rubber tipped float needle?

The next time it does that, tap on the side of the float bowl with a screwdriver handle, or hammer handle.

Yep, Dunk has the answer. The carburetor inlet valve needle (likely neoprene-tipped) is sticking to the seat.

A downward "rap" with a screwdriver handle to the carb upper body at the end the fuel line enters SHOULD make it drop.

Some guys report an improvement by adding a little MMO to the gas, or Sea Foam.

Others insist on trying to find a solid steel inlet needle and getting rid of the neoprene-tipped one.
