Hey gang,

Look what I picked up yesterday!

1957 Ford 860. It only shows 357 hours on the meter! Although hard to believe, condition leads me to believe it might be possible. Seller claimed that it was barely used since he and the previous owner has had it. It is in great shape. Everything works except the lights and the temp gauge, which should be easy to fix. Couple of dents in the hood. Started right up and seems to run good, but will put it through some paces this weekend.
Definitely different from my 9N! Can't wait to use the extra horsepower. Have to get used to the up/down gearshift though.

Question: do all the 860s have an 800 front emblem? It is stamped 860 on the case, but the 800 emblem threw me for a minute. Plus the Operator Manual they gave me is for the 601/801. What is the difference between the 800s and 801s? Just curious...

Hopefully the pics come through...

Congrats on your new tractor. Your tractor, equipped with pie weights as it is, plus a front bumper and loaded rear tires, is, along with the MF 65 my "dream tractors". I've operated both and liked them better than anything else I've ever operated. I now have a '46 2N. Mr. Bob

Yes, all the 800 series (840, 850, 860, and I think there was an 820 and 830 as well, but not sure) had a hood emblem reading "800". Biggest difference in the 800 and 801 series was that 801's had optinal diesel engines and Select-o-speed transmissions, while the 800's didn't. 801 owner's manual should be OK for you- just ignore the parts about the dieel and SOS.

Greg: The last digit just tells you whether it was made in 1955-1958 for the zero, or 1958-1962 for the one. So if yours is a '57, it would be an 860.
I have an 861 and they are neat tractors - live PTO, almost 50 hp, etc. Have fun with it.
