Act of kindness gets a big reward!

Yesterday, my son Matt & I were brush hogging the scrub oak downhill. The hog hit a 3” trunk & stopped, jamming the PTO and transmission in such a way that we couldn’t get it out of gear or pull the PTO out of gear or even pull the hog’s PTO shaft.

This was a real pickle. Solution was to go over & borrow the neighbors International 544 tractor that Matt & I had recently repaired for him & pull the little Ford on to flat ground. When we did the tune up on the 544, the neighbor was so delighted that his tractor ran so good (it had been running on 3 cylinders) that he couldn’t stop thanking us. It seems we have a friend for life and it is paying off for both of us!

The moral of the story is: good deeds are rewarded.

Good call Sounder; The pin sheared about 1 pass after we got her un-stuck. The N is stong enough to hog that brush, if we stay under 2" in dia. The rest gets pulled up by the roots with a chain to the front bumper. Real PITA!

Gary:

We are considering that since he is now gainfully employed, he may be in the market for his own "N". Good news is also that it will stay here.

Lots of times in that pickel, I have been able to tighten, or loosen the top link on the bush hog enough to get it out of a bind.

From the looks of the pic, I would have used some gas and a match instead of the ford. I would use it for controlling the fire, maybe with a sprayer attached
