A few weeks ago I posted that upon replacing the manifold that the tractor loped and did not have any power. Had also done carb work at the same time.

I fought the carb several times, changed the plugs to 437's, replaced points and still no help.
Sprayed around carb and manifold connections with no help. Front two plugs when shorted made some difference in sound and power/rpm. Rear plugs more reactive.

RE-installed the old manifold and it ran like a champ, like before. Still noisy from the crack near the exhaust pipe outlet.

Make your best guess as to the problem before reading further.

The manifold (new) has an internal flaw between the intake and exhaust and must be closer to #1 and #2 cylinders. Found by holding manifold upside down. Holding palm of hands over intake ports to block, I poured water into the carb mounting and water ran out of #1 exhaust port!!

Never trust new parts! Waiting on another new manifold.

The Big Three came up with EGR in the 70's....you get no patent!

Roger:

That is the kind of issue that will put blood in your stool!

I bought a "new" manifold on line & later discovered that it was not flat on the mating surface between the block & manifold. I ended up replacing it with one purchased from the New Holland dealer, much better quality and cost was only $55 (cheaper than the on line purchase with shipping).
