Hi All, Ive been reading about the winter projects that have been completed or are nearing completion and I wanted to share one that Ive been working on with all of you. About a year ago I ran into a guy who had built a tractor cab for his father's 9N so that his father could blade snow in relative comfort. It was built based on a roll cage for a fork lift that was retrieved from the woods where a tree was growing up through the cage. I looked at his and decided that this would be a great winter time design project and designed one based on his original. We wanted to build one that will keep the operator dry and warm during that winter and out of the sun and rain during the summer. The frame is 1x1 tube and the skin is 16 gauge steel. The front and rear windows open up and an are held up by gas springs and can be easily removed during installation . The door is removable for extra ventilation and to make installation easier. The total wight of the cab is 350 lbs. The engine side covers are clamped on to protect the parade ready paint ( LOL ). The whole cab and engine covers were powder coated light grey. The cab is wired with a windshield wiper, front head lights, rear lights, rear tail lights -- just lots of lights and a cigarette lighter to run the cell phone charger. I was inside of it doing the wiring and it was really comfortable with the door and window s closed on these raw spring days.

All in all a pretty good project. I will see if is fits a fergy when I find one to test on.

I have seen A/C units mounted on top of golf cart canopies. www.buggiesunlimited.com under fans & air conditioners. Anybody on here around the brookhaven area of MS. Got a 52 8n, Ferguson F40, Farmall H, Father in laws got 54 NAA that he never put a wrench on(thats were I come in) Love to have a devoted 8n with this set up for the deep south summer days mowing the place with the finish mower.

Wildhorse..... ..now thats a reason to convert to 12-volts, all those lites. Nicely done but I always thought a SNOWMOBILER zip-up suit was cheaper (grin) I'd be a little cautious about the engine sidepanels directing EXHAUST LEAKS into such a tightly sealed cab..... ....Dell

Hi Dell,

I was also concerned with the exhaust leaks too since all of the N"s that are really working that Ive seen are leaking from the manifold or somewhere. The cab is not air tight for that reason. The area below the rear axle is open to the rear of the tractor. The original tractor that this was patterned off of had only a piece of bar grate on the curb side for a foot rest and was open to the ground. The muffler was routed up the right rear corner of the cab and with that it was way too hot in the cab even on very cold days. The air does get blown into the cab from the radiator and it is hot. For summer use the engine covers are removed. With the all the lights I"m afraid that when I turn them all on the load will kill the engine LOL. Does anybody know where I can get a PTO operated A/C unit?

Very sharp looking cab. Commendable fabrication. One question - how do you lift the lid to access the gas tank filler? Appears that the cab obstructs the lid but I cannot tell for sure.
Very nice cab. I could use something like that here in Fairbanks, Alaska, for plowing snow.

Hi

The video shows how its done. The whole front window and frame pivots up at the top and you can get to the battery door and open it.

That's just too nifty!! I'm really impressed with the way you set it up for summer ventilation or closed up for winter. The tip up windows would provide protection from the rain and still let sir through. Great Job!! If you want to build and sell those I expect there's a good market among the tractor clubbers.

Man that looks fine! I wish I had one like this so I could drive all day to town and back. I just love when city folk see me at the gas station in my tractors. Only thing I would have done differently would be to make it longer so a passenger could ride in the back. Maybe next one could be an extended cab? Amazed at how good this came out! Great work!!!!

Mark.
