Just two short questions (I hope). 1. Received my replacement king pin bushing today, its copper/brass the original was steel. Copper brass being a softer metal how will this affect durability? Yes I plan to grease it.

2. Since I had the front end disassembled I decided to replace the radius rod pins. Don't ask me why. I saw in my manual and the replacement pins are the same that they are just driven in and held by cotter pins. My pins have lock washers and nuts on them. Are they some sort of replacement pin or something someone has "engineered"?

thanks again for your responses,

Pete

The original hardened steel-on-steel didn't work out too well. The current aftermarket replacement bushing is made from bearing bronze and will wear rather than the steel pin (or at least that's the theory ;-) . Grease it and go - if/when it wears out slap a new one in. I'd guess it's unlikely you will be the one to replace it.

Hey Pete, My opinion on the king pin bushing is, don't worry about durability, it will be around longer than both of us. Also, most suggest to leave it dry, but it's your tractor. The pins on two of my N's radius rods were "re-engineered" at some point in their lives before I got them. Only one of my N's had the originals still in place and they were a BEAR to remove as they wore and rusted in place. I replace all mine because I like the original look. Good Luck
