I finally tracked the screach my tractor makes down to a missing bolt, its the one that holds the front pulley on the crank and that has the castle on the top for hand cranking.

Anyone out there know what that is called? Or where I could get one?

How about this, was that pulley keyed on? I can't see anything through the front passway.

That is called a crown head bolt - and it can be purchased from several aftermarket providers or used on eBay frequently. And yes, the pulley does fit down onto a woodruff key, but it is a little inset from the timing cover on the crank shaft.

many thanks dan. I don't know how I will get that pulley off to replace that key. Guess I have to take the front end off?

You have to remove the front timing cover to get to the area on the crank shaft where this key is. Removing the front end at the axle support would make the job much easier.
