Water hydrant

Guys, I have a question on my #$%!@ water hydrant. Water doesn't come out when I lift the handle! I have about 30psi pressure on the gage at the pump in my basement. The hydrant was closed all winter and the pump blocked with a valve at the pump outlet. I suspect the leathers at the bottom of hydrant stuck on the seat. I want to pull the rod and leathers out the top of hydrant and replace them since it did not shutoff good last fall.

Tell me if I'm doing anything bass-ackwards.

Thanks

Mine did the same thing this spring. I disconnected the handle and spun the top of the hydrant off and found that the rod inside was in two pieces with a nut holding the pieces together. I was able to screw the top rod back into the nut with some lock-tight and put it all back together.

Hmmm, you aren't just the back end of an airframe!
