Since my rebuild I have only run my tractor for about an hour or so at a time and then proceeded to check things out . I have noticed that the radiator does not seem to generate any pressure (like a car ). The coolant is warm and it is flowing but no pressure . I do not work the tractor hard when checking these things out , just up and down the driveway ect.. Should the tractor generate pressure in the radiator (like a car ) if so how long does it take and could it be that I just need a new cap?
I have also realized that there is a thermostat in the upper hose , not knowing this I did not install it in any particular way . Is there a right and wrong way to install a new upper radiator hose ? I did check the archives and it seems like no one came to a conclusion .
Thanks
Alan

Alan..... ..yes, there really is a right and a wrong way to install a thermostat in your N-Tractor's upper radiator hose. Generally, the card the thermostat comes on, has specific instructions. If you have "thrown away" the card, you may have to experiment on the kitchen stove, (with permission from your better half, of course).

Failing that, my N-Tractor's Owners Manual states "Be sure to install the thermostat in the correct position with the bi-metal spiral on the bottom"

While the N-Tractor is generally considered to have an oversized cooling system as opposed to an automobile, its radiator pressure is only 3.5 to 4.5 psi as opposed to a modern cars 14 psi. If you don't build up any pressure within about 1/2 hour, you probably do need a new radiator cap.

Hope this helps..... ...Dell
