I see fan shrouds advertized for sale (9N, 2N, & 8N), but have not seen them on tractors. Are they original? Are they designed to improve cooling?

Don't know what year they started putting them on, but I converted my 9N to a puller fan and put a shroud on to hopefully improve cooling. I bought a shroud from an aftermarket (don't remember who) but had to do a lot of cutting with the nibbler to get it to fit. Seems to work okay, but not sure the magnitude of the benefit since I have since replaced the engine.

On p 128 of Leffingwell's Ford Farm Tractors, it shows an assembly-line worker painting a 9N with a shroud attached to the radiator. Another on page 139. I think many were removed when the front axle bushing became worn, allowing the fan to hit the shroud when the axle pivoted beyond its normal range.
