48 8N. My brand new wiring harness has just expeienced meltdown. I think everything was fine until I hooked up the ammeter, I had it wired up to see if she would turn over.Than the ammeter,I connected one post of the ammeter to the wire running from the battery terminal on the regulator. From the second post I ran a wire to the lower center post on the resistor block. I have a funny feeling, and smell in my nose, that this was incorrect. Help is greatly needed. Could this cause the meltdown or should I look elsewhere? What else could have been damaged?

check to see if the resistor block is grounding out against the dash panel use a ohm meter with nothing hooked up to the block sounds like a dead short RSP
