Too much oil pressure?

I sent the engine of one of my 8N's out for a complete rebuild last fall, and other than to get it adjusted and running good have hardly run it since. Before rebuilding, it ran maybe 15 p.s.i. oil pressure when cold and pretty much zero pressure at operating temperature.

It's good to have pressure again - but I moved it from the garage to the barn today and the gauge showed 50 p.s.i.! I haven't seen it go below 45 since I got the motor back. The rebuilder said they filled it with straight 30 weight oil. What do you think - is this much pressure good or not? Thanks.

Wait another 50yrs and wonder why you have such low oil pressure. ;^)

You are doing fine...don't worry...50 is better than zero. I once thought I had a high pressure problem...changed oil, replaced pressure relief valve & spring, and still maintain 55-60 cold and 35-40 hot. It runs great to this day.

IMHO...don't worry...be happy. =/;^)
