Neat stuff from the N-Newsletter

Well here it's morning, and I'm thoroughly exhausted because yet another order of delightfull stuff came from the N-Newsletter. So I stayed up way to late reading it.

You all really, *really* owe it to yourselves to order some of the wonderfull stuff the've got.

For example, I learned that yes indeed, one can put power steering on an 8N. And to my smug satisfaction, I was right in speculating that the power steering parts off a 3000 series tractor will fit onto an 8N. For that's what the guy who put power steering on his tractor used.

And there were the plans for making a post hole digger from the axle of a truck, just like someone here saw at an auction or such recently. Pretty nifty design, in that it had a slick setup for tilting the auger. If I ever get/make a posthole digger, I'll definately incorporate that one!

Then there were those neat things like the cement mixer that worked by lowering a car tire onto the pto shaft, a scraper blade on a 20 foot boom, which Monroe steering damper fits an N and how to mount it, and a simple hand clutch modification.

And there was even a wonderfull find in discovering that Martin Signur (sp, the NAPA paint supplier) blends N paint to the exact specifications that they did half a century ago when they supplied paint to Ford for painting them on the assembly line. It's OEM paint!

Again, you guys owe it to yourselves to go print out the archives selection, and order some of the nifty stuff the N-Newsletter has for our machines.

Hey, thanks for the comment about NAPA paint being the OEM colors. I was just ready to take a chance on NAPA being the "correct" color. Now I have confidence.

NAPA's off-the-shelf 8N red is not correct. They may be able to mix the right red, but it ain't ready-mixed.

bg, There is a set up for auction on E-Bay. I have a set I picked up a couple of weeks ago, good stuff but printed in 1947 or 1948 and my N is a '51, but just the same it is still very helpful Drew

If they had the "Dealer's School" stuff for sale, then they wouldn't have anything for next Quarters printing. But I'm glad that they are printing what they have..... ..Dell
