I've seen photos of the back of 8N's that appear to have a long pin that runs through the hole on one side of the rear end casting through the yoke (just below the spring)and out the hole on the other side of the rear end.It would take a pin about 9" long. But in other photos it appears to be about a 4" pin just in the yoke.which one is correct.

Good question Bob. When I visited Raleigh and his collection of 8N's last October...he wasn't home. Apparently he went to a parade nearby. I'm head'in back to visit him this Oct and will ask him what the heck it is. Hopefully he will know.

Phil..... .Yes....there were some implement attachements that used a "long pin".

I didn't really pay attention to all the "details" of the installation when I drove an 8N as a kid that had the long pin. But the long pin held 2 metal straps that jingled along, in this case holding up the 11 hole drawbar at a fixed height. And since my current 8N does not have a long pin set-up.....can't help much more..... .....Dell
