After reading Dell's recent post on Sherman auxillary transmissions, it has got me wondering about my 8n. Am I correct in believing that all Shermans have the shift lever on the left side? Mine has a 3 speed auxillary with the shift lever(straight lever, not curved) on the right side. I've only been reading this board a few weeks and haven't seen anything on this. Is this a "Howard" or some other manufacturer? Maybe someone in the know can shed some light on this. Anyway, one things for sure, I dearly love this aux. trans. especially low range; makes my 8n crawl.

You have a Hupp over/under/direct. It should say Hupp at the end of the lever where the round knob is. It had similair ratios to the Sherman's, but wasn't has popular

I belive you're right, Hupp is cast in the lever. It has certainly made my 8n a more versatile machine. Wouldn't want to do without it.
