I wold like to build a trailer to pull behind my 2N. Haul rock, firewood etc. I think a dump trailer would be real handy. Anone have or know where to get a set of do-it-yourself plans?

I have a utility dump trailer on my next to do list. I purchased two 16" emergency tires and rear bearings from a chev beretta at the local junk yard to start. The tires/wheels $12 each and the bearings with wheel mounts, $24 each. The tires and wheels had never been out of the trunks.

Well, you could request a free catalog from this company. The catalog has detailed plans for several trailers in it. They also sell axle and hitch kits for various types of trailers. Good trailer parts btw. Very heavily galvanized. JC Whitney also has a pretty slick set of auto transporter trailer plans for sale, about $10.

But if all you want is a farm trailer, I'd keep an eye out for abandoned trailers hiding behind places. I've gotten trailers that way before. Some in very good condition, some that really weren't worth bothering with. The junked body of a pop up camper makes a dandy cargo trailer. Knock the body off it, and you've got a pretty handy little flat bed trailer.

Dump capability is simple enough, especially with a three point hitch. I dump mine by lifting the hitch. But I don't find dumping capabilities to be very handy overall. Without a double acting hydraulic cylinder, I can't control it adequately. And I hardly ever use any form of it anyhow. I just shovel or throw, even from many dump bed trailers.

www.cadplans.com has a nice smaller dump trailer plan.

The N-Newsletter had a selection of reader-built trailers in the last two issues which might give you some very useable ideas.

Novi - not Novi, Michigan, surely?
