Bad Boots!

Hi Guys!

Here's just a teeny little gripe (as opposed to a real problem). I ordered two new shifter boots from Stevens last winter. The first one was put on shortly after I got the parts. Heated a cup of water to near boiling in the microwave, let the boot 'steep' for a few minutes, then inverted it , and rolled it onto the shifter. Slick as a button! The next day, when I went out to use the tractor, the boot had split in two places--nearly an inch long each.

I installed the second boot last week. It was hotter than Hades, so I just left the boot on the hood of the tractor while I was doing other things. After fifteen or so minutes, it was very warm to the touch, so I installed it in the same manner as the first one. You guessed it. The next day, two splits in the boot.

The rubber appears to be kinda grainy and grayish, even when in the skinpack. Has anyone else had bad luck with these? Who makes a GOOD one? Thanks.

Ron

Got mine at the NH Dealer for $2.00 and some change. Worked for me.. Maybe those grainy boots are not made for walking...
Happy Motoring

I got mine from CT. It looks fine, I installed it last fall. It was not grainy in appearance.
