Front Wheels Bearings?

Was checking radiator water level the other day and shook Henry (my Jubilee) a bit to see the water sloshing as I looked in. My wife noticed the front wheels wobling a bit as I rocked tractor side to side. Seems like the bearings are loose or worn. Should I go ahead and change out the bearings or just tighten them up. I have changed front wheels bearings on my trucks and cars in the past and I would expect the same basic procedure for my Jubilee. Any "tricks" to be noted during this process. Also, I have noticed that with a load on hitch (bush hog, mower, etc) my rear wheels seem to want to vibrate side to side as well. Not really enough to notice, but the fenders sure do rattle on occasion. Could this be due to front wheel slop? Any comments appreciated. Thanks

I would check the thrust bearings too while doing the wheel bearings. I would replace the seals also .

Reid,
You could probably take up on the bearings and make the slop go away for a little while. But, if they're the original bearings, and, if you're going to go through the trouble of taking the bearing cap off and pull the cotter pin out of the bearing nut to take up on them, you may as well go the extra step and replace the bearings. I'm in the process of replacing them on my '41 9N. The inboard bearing is larger than the outboard bearing. You should be able to get the bearings at CT Farm & Family or your local Ford-New Holland Dealer. The Bearings for the 9N are about $30 a pair. Good Luck!
Tom.
