Here is the situation... Our 1945 Ford 9n tractor won't start. We have replaced the distributer cap, points, and rotor, but there is still no spark from the distributer. There is a spark (short?) when the distributer is mounted back on the Block. Does anybody have any suggestions? It ran the day before and now doesn't.

Alan,

I also have a 45 N-series. From what I've found, these are actually 2Ns. But of course, that's not important since thay are basically the same. I've had a similiar problem before. After checking deeper, I found the switch had been left on overnight. I would do a quick check to make sure the switch is working before laying out the cash for a new coil though. A quick check with a VOM might save you some bucks. Also, to save some grief down the road, make sure you applied soem lube to the Dist. shaft lobes that actuate the points.

Best of luck..... Tommy

Alan, you might want to check the coil and wiring to the dist. No spark usually means a bad coil. Hope this helps and good luck!
