3pt. Troubles

I have an 8n that recently has been giving me trouble with the 3pt lift. The only way I can get the 3pt to lift is to push the position control lever down. (I have to push pretty hard). It will not work in any other position. In the vertical position you can hear the pump working, but it is like it does not have enough power to lift. I have a 6' blade and a 6' cultivator, neither of which is very heavy.

Thank you

Check:
1. Condition of fluid
2. Open side cover and inspect for leaks or other obvious things, like turbulence in the sump, broken parts, etc.
(Having done that, you'll likely find no obvious problems, but it doesn't hurt to check to start with.)
Make sure the big control spring(behind the seat) is adjusted to where it can be rotated by hand.
Make sure the touch control quadrant is adjusted properly.
(Neither one of those is likely to be the cause.)
The real problem most likely lies in the linkage. Pull the hydraulic cover and inspect the control arm and especially the pin that contacts the position control arm cam. Also check the measurement of the draft control and position control springs. Look for worn, bent or broken parts. AN I&T FO-4 will give you the procedures for testing and repair.
