I use a 7' blade for snow removal. Seems to be just the right size with the blade angled. I need to use my left brake when pushing heavy snow to the right to keep it from pulling the tractor to the right.

Have had a seven foot utility blade for my 8N for a number of years and report no problems. Depends on the soil and/or snow levels and conditions. Mine is on sandy soil and works like a charm...

I have a 6 ft blade and it works great, however I had a funny incident happen when driving mine and thought someone might get a kick out of it.
Where I have my 8N is at my receational property so we only have a camping trailer and and just an outhouse as facilities. I was scraping with my blade just cleaning up loose lumps of dirt etc. I swung my tractor to the right and my blade swung to the left, little did I know that my wife was seated in the outhouse, the blade just touched the edge of the outhouse not even enough to knock off the paint. Well seconds later my wife is out of the outhouse and giving me holly old s---.
I laughed so hard I just about fell off my tractor. So if you get a blade just watch where the other end swings, you might to have funny incidents to report. Stan

Well lets hope a 7' back blade is'nt to big for a 8n !, cause I just bought a brand new one for my 50 8n !, I used a 6' footer (that was'nt mine)for a couple of years to move dirt, stone and to plow snow here in N.Y. with no problems, so lets hope a 7 footer ain't to big !(-:

later,dave

Sounds a wee bit large to me.... You are talking back blade, right? A 7 foot snowplow would be just fine....I guess it all depends on your intended use.. I have found the smaller 5 or 6 foot blades do well for the hard soil types we have hear in Stephentown, and I have a friend with a 5 foot Box blade ( thats a Gannon for you westerners) that he does wonders with. He did most of the earth moving for his new house with it.. Took some time but hey, time on an N goes too quick anyway...
