1941 9N Front wheel spindle/arm:

I need to put a few beads of weld on my spindle in the notch where it meets the arm. It is worn where the bolt needs to keep everything tight.
Question is... Do I need to preheat the spindle before I weld it?
Using a Lincoln Buzz Box, any recommendations on types of stick to use?
Any other tips?

Thanks

TB

Quoting Removed, click Modern View to see

Pre-heating not required as it's forged steel.

7018 should do the job for you. Chip the slag after each pass to prevent contamination of the weld. Should be fairly straight forward job. Grind to fit and do not quench - Let it air cool naturally.
