Mind of its own

The 3pt tends to have a mind of its own. It will suddenly start to raise on its own and won't lower until I raise the lever all the way up and push it back down. Then it is fine. I turn the pto off and back on again, then it will do it all over again, sometimes. It also has a slight grinding noise with a load, but has no trouble lifting. It may be time to change the hyraulic fluid. Thanks for the advice.

My 9N has done that several times. I was pretty hard on it when I first got it (did a lot of ripping). Check the cotter pins in the linkage between the pump and the lift cylinder. I replaced these with spring clips. The control valve might be sticking also. The problem went away after a rebuild of the pump and lift cylinder.
