1952 8N sat over winter started ok in early spring. I couldn't use it at that time because lower gasket on hydraulic pump pan near the preasure port leaked. two weeks ago I bought a new battery and started tractor. decided to tackle the hydraulic repair. completed that and stated tractor and tested hydraulics. everything was fine. next day tryed to start the tractor and nothing happened. no click nothing. jumped it even though the battery is new. nothing. I have since installed rebuilt starter, relay and bendix and tested the push button switch with screw driver to ground it to tractor. nothing happens. no sound at all. I have a tape that shows on a 8n front distributor that you can run a lead wire from the coil to the positive battery terminal to take the key switch and a resistor, that can open up, out of the electrlical loop and see if they are to blame. my 8n has a side distibutor and no origingal key switch just a toggle switch on or off. I am wondering if I have this resistor and where it would be. also if I can perform this coil to positive terminal test and how. any other ideas would be greatly appreceated. Thanks In advance

Tip # 49 will help w/ the battery. Tip # 43 will tell you how to jump it safely w/ a 12v battery. If it turns over by jumping it, the problem is likely bad grounds/connections/cables, or as you suspect, a bad battery.
