Grease in upper steering assembly

I got my '52 8N renovation completely finished today, except for the sheet metal which I start tomorrow. I finished up by giving it a good lube job.

The grease fitting on the upper steering shaft, just below the steering wheel, took a LOT of grease. 20 pumps with a big grease gun, then 10 more. Then, I did the other fittings, came back, and gave it 10 more. That's got to be a couple of pounds of grease already, but there's no back pressure and I can't see it coming out anywhere.

Does this grease fitting fill the entire steering gear box (which must have been bone-dry)? How do I know when it's full, will it eventually squirt out somewhere? Should I give it more?

Thanks for any help.

Naw... give up on it... None of the information that I have show a grease fitting on the steering shaft. Some individuals decided, since it is impossible to get at the lube fitting on the steering assembly without dismanteling the dash, etc...to drill a hole and put a grease fitting in there. You are correct, eventually, if you put enough grease into the fitting it wll squirt out someplace. If the lower bearing retainer is missing on the lower steering bearing, like mine is , you may fill up the clutch housing before it comes out any place. 6 and a half cases of grease ought to do it.
Happy Motoring
