I have been trying to use a post hole auger on my 8N. I need to be able to stop the auger while using the hydraulics. My question; has anyone ever heard of a manual over ride clutch? Something that would disengauge the pto to the auger. Can any of you Guy's using an auger tell me how you do it? Thanks in advance for any help, I got a hundred post to put in.

I think I know where your comeing from, I drilled 18 12' holes for a pole barn that I built, when I tried to lift the auger out of the hole it would start slaping on the inside of the hole with such force that I was worried I'd break something !, What I ened up doing was to shut the tractor off, disconnect the pto shaft, then start her back up and lift the augar out of the hole. This seemed to work ok, but, I only had 18 holes and you have a 100 ! )-: I don't know of any clutch that goes on the shaft that could be disenguaged while the tractor is running.

I have seen these types of clutches on old tractors. They have a handle that sticks up behind the rear seat. I don't know if they still make a disconnect clutch for pto's.
