What do you use to stop the 3 pt. hitch from moving back and forward? Is there some kind of stabilizer bar or something you can get to keep the hitch centered with the tractor? If there is, how do they fit and what are they call?

again thanks

Ther are 2 types of stabilizers. The original was 2 pieces that fit over the drawbar's end pins and connect to the upper link pin on the tractor. It originally had a small bracket attached with a small chain. this bracket fit into the 3pt lift lever quadrant(the metal piece the lift lever slides past) and has a set screw to set it tight. It prevents the lever from being used to raise the hitch. Because the stabilizers connect to the top 3pt pin raising the 3pt would cause damage and posibly personal injury.

The newer style of stabilizers fit onto the drawbars end pins and have a set of brackets with pins which mount under the fender mounting bolts on the bottom side of the rear axel. These have the same rotating position as the 3pt arms so you can raise and lower the 3pt with the stabilizers on the tractor.

You might also want to check into a regular
swinging drawbar. They cost about $100 and are
available from anyone who can sell you TISCO parts
I got one for my 8N about 6 months ago - love it.
You don't have to take it off and put it back on and it doesn't swing around.

What you need is two stabilizer bars and the two brackets that are bolted under the axle with the same two bolts that hold the fenders on the top of the axle only a little longer to allow for the thickness of the brackets.
I think that you can order them from the sponcers of this page. Just look around on the left column and I think you will see how to find the parts for sale.
