Installation problem re front wheel weights

I found front wheel weights, and they each attach with four bolts. I know they really are for an 8N. Unlike some 8N wheels I have seen, my wheels don't have the four holes. If I drill, I'm going to be going through the same metal the wheel studs are attached to - heavy stuff. I don't think it would be a good idea, and it might be almost impossible to do right. Are there adapter plates for this situation, which would interface between the wheel attachment studs and these weights. If they are not available, has anyone tried to make them? Or should I just get carborundum burrs if the metal is cast iron, and go for it?

You do not say what size wheels you have. I have never seen weights for the 19" wheels so do not know what they look like. What ever you have should fit snugly against the wheel and hub without a bind. In other words, there should be no gap between the weight and hub/wheel where the bolt goes thru.

My wheels are 16", and are steel. The part I am unsure about is, I would have to drill through the part of the hub to which the wheel studs are attached, and it is really heavy stuff, probably cast iron. Some of the wheels I've seen have more to them than mine. With mine, the rim is just that, a rim with enough metal toward the middle of the circle so that there are holes for the lugs. Is part of my wheels missing? I wonder whether there is some other way to do it, or whether there is some other type of front weight which I should have bought. My 8N is an early '51, and is quite straight original.

The weights you want are two piece jobs and are made to bolt to the rims. If your rims do not have holes in them for weights, hunt a set that does. I have weights on my NAA that my dad bought in the 50s for Ferg tractors. Everytime he traded, he kept the weights. I would not do without them.

Do the 2-piece weights use holes which are not in the wheels I have, or do I use wheel lug bolts to attach them? Do they attach on the inside or the outside of the wheels?

I have 19 inch steel hubs on my 8n and am thinking of drilling the 4 holes in them to mount my 4 holed wheel weight contraption but I scared that it might bend my rims out of whack..on cast iron rims I would be scared that they would crack them..we both need advice..
