I have never had any tractors other than my two 1952 8N's, which I have grown pretty familiar with. It happens that there are THREE 1953 Golden Jubilees for sale in my town right now, all by individual owners. They're pretty proud of them, asking prices range from $2950 to $3200, and all three are unrestored, pretty rusty, fair to poor sheet metal and rubber, etc. About the condition you would expect for 46-year old working tractors that are still running and usable.

Anyway, I like the looks of the Jubilee - that bull-nose hood and big nose medallion is nifty, and I think I would like to renovate one into a good-looking working tractor someday (not now). I'm not considering buying one of these, but there's always another deal.

For future reference, what would I be getting into? It's obvious that the motor and most everything is much different from an N - would renovating a Jubilee be much harder than doing an N? What do you think? Thanks.

IMHO that it would not be much different than doing a N. Mechanics are the same irregardless of the machine..Mike

Sam, I just finished painting the Script on the hood and fenders this morning and My Jubilee is now completely restored, except I need a grill. I love this little tractor. The nose medallion is nice. It was a lot of fun repainting it. HA HA. I am working on getting an 8N, but for now, the Jubilee is beautiful. The Videos offered here on this web site are pretty good on the overhaul of the engine. There is a nice Jubilee on ebay right now. It's had a few changes, but still nice. I hate to see some of the good prices for Jubilees, since I paid alot more for mine than I've seen. Although, mine has a nice loader on the front.

The Jubilee is a handsome tractor, IMO. The hydraulic system on a Jubilee is different, the engine is an overhead valve engine, and the transmission, hydraulic and differential housings are configured slightly differently from the 8N. The tractor is slightly longer and a little bit taller. There are many parts the tractors have in common. I think the transition would not be difficult. If the left running board has an intact toolbox, consider it a plus.
