I picked up a old Fergerson post hole auger at a farm auction this weekend. Does anyone know where I can get a owners manual for one of these augers. Its in very good condition, but would like to know the details about the machine. Also, I saw a message posted a few days ago about someone looking for a hand operated clutch to be used while digging holes, but didn't see any results in the replies. Is there such a thing on the market that would fit my 8N?

That type clutch was on a case tractor in the WD catagory could have been a WD45. The had clutch powered the drive wheels the regular clutch powered the PTO

Years ago we had Fergerson tractors (50s) and I remember a post hole digger we bought from the dealer. Do not know if it was made by Fergerson but do remember the digger well. It was made out of a 37-48 Ford car rear end center section and one housing. One axle was cut off and stubbed locked in the pinion housing the other side had a full length housing with the bearing surface on the end. The auger had the inside of a Ford hub with bearing and the tapered end for the axle & key. If that is what you have, it is a great rig and one which you can easily get parts for.

Try the advertisers who support this site, look at N-Newsletter and search EBay where all sorts of old manuals surface from time to time. The link below will take you to N-Newsletter's archives where I counted 8 post hole digger documents (but not Ferguson).
