What year(s) did the 9N have a dual range transmission? (lever on left side)

I know that the Sherman step-up/down transmissions
were available in the early 40's. They had the
shifter on the left side, coming out of where
the clutch lives. I think step-ups were common
because the 9Ns were embarrassingly slow on
paved roads.

Our step-up Sherman always whined when in step-up
mode.

These were not a std Ford feature, and could
be installed later-on. So, you can't be sure
when/where it actually was installed.

Other brands followed; some have lo/1:1/Hi ratios,
all in a single package.
