I finished pulling the last three pistons. The pistons and sleeves are shot. I have pulled the sleeves(fun) and have found them to be cast iron. The mesurements seem to be for the .040 steel sleeves. Did they make a .040 cast iron sleeve?. What should the un-sleeved bore be for the .090 sleeve. Thanks.

Zane is right. There were two sleves available in the 9N. One was .040 and one .090 wall thickness. I know that both are shown in current New Holland parts but I do not remember if the .040 sleeves are still available.

Better check the rod bushings also. If they are worn, it may knock id you install new piston pins.

I don't know about the availability of the .040 cast iron sleeves but when I worked in the Ford dealership in the 60s the they were readily available and so were the steel sleeves.
The .040 cast iron sleeve is just as good a rebuild as the .090 cast iron sleeve in my learned opinion. If the bottom of the sleeve measures .040 then that is what you have. The never wear at the bottom of the sleeve.

The sleeves could have been bored out at some point in time. What size are the pistons? The bore is supposed to be 3.187". To use a cast iron sleeve the block would have been bored out to accept the larger o.d. of the sleve, while the i.d. should have been standard. You can get different sized sleeves and pistons from the companies who make such things.
