It is very common that rims rust from the inside out,so that when we get the tire off there is usually alot of devstating rust to behold. I am wondering what some of you recommend as a coating for the inside of the rim after the rust has been cleaned off. I have been using primer and special anti- rust paint, but someone at the coffee shop told me he used some kind of under body protector for cars that dries in about 5 minutes that he said was terrific.
Any other ideas?

I believe that the truck bed spray that is available in spray cans at Wal-Mart would work great. I have used this for undercoating on a garden tractor and in place of semi-gloss paint
where the hood scrapes on the dash of the garden tractor. I think the properties it has demonstrated would make it ideal. It also dries
fast and hard. Tip Hold can closer for smooth
finish and farther back for rough.

I had to replace a rusted out rim last year and the guy I bought it from reccommended spraying it with auto undercoating. I did and when I had to remove the tire (because I had it on backwards)it did not seem to be sticking very well. It was dry and rubbed right off. Don't know if it was the finish on the rim or defective spray. Anyway I sprayed again and mounted the tire. Who knows what it looks like now.

That's my 2 cents worth.
